The DRC is still recovering from years of war and political troubles, and the country is still facing huge humanitarian challenges. People continue to live in crisis condition in many parts of the DRC. WFP’s core project is a relief operation (July 2007-December 2012) which targets people caught up in the armed conflict. To contribute to improving the nutritional status of groups identified as severely or moderately at risk, through interventions such as therapeutic and supplementary feeding centres, mother and child health programmes and school-feeding. Assistance to the internally displaced, refugees and returnees is provided. Food-for-work (FFW) and food-for-training (FFT) projects are impleented as well including the rehabilitation of rural infrastructure such as roads, schools and other public buildings.

A WFP general food distribution to 6700 new IDP’s (2 weeks rations) in Mugunga camp. People have fled Masisi territory after national army launched a military operation against renagade soldiers.
